Vaccine Ready

What does school require?

In DC, every student must stay up to date on required vaccines, at any type of school: public, charter or private.

Deadline: students entering Pre-K3, kindergarten, 7th and 11th grade must be fully vaccinated by December 7, 2026.

One rulebook for every DC school

DC public schools, charter schools and private schools all follow the same DC Health vaccine rules. No school has its own different rules.

Shots DC requires

  • Before Pre-K3 and kindergarten: DTaP, polio, MMR, hepatitis B, chickenpox (varicella), Hib, pneumococcal and hepatitis A.
  • Before 7th grade: Tdap, meningococcal and HPV.
  • Before 11th grade: a meningococcal booster.

The exact number of doses is on the official list below.
